The Academic Behavioral Strategist (ABS) teaching program is designed to prepare teachers for teaching in a K-12, mild-moderate special education setting. The program is developed to give ABS teachers a solid foundation in the liberal arts, knowledge and understanding of human development and learning processes for students with exceptionalities, methods of teaching students with mild-moderate disabilities in the areas of academic and behavior, and required due process procedures related to special education.

NOTE: With the exception of January Session, the add, drop, and withdrawal deadlines for the B.A. in Special Education K-12 Academic Behavioral Strategist program follows the College of Adult and Professional Studies calendar published in the catalog.

EDU 272 (must be taken concurrently) is a prerequisite for EDU 276.

Students may not declare a B.A. in Special Education K-12 Academic Behavioral Strategist and a B.A. in Elementary and Special Education Integrated Major.

Students may not declare a B.A. in Special Education K-12 Academic Behavioral Strategist and Minor in Special Education.
